I don't think they were trying to "fool" anyone.

Yea, tis true, this is not usual Morphine fare, usually they are more sparse and dark, but I like it!

This is almost like an alternate-universe version of Morphine!  It's so full of layers...  I think I prefer their regular "low-rock," but this stuff is pretty good, too.

No, it's not a cover song. It's similar to "Celluloid Heroes," but there are enough differences to distinguish it from the Kinks' song.

Like the horns. The name of the band is appropriate, this is chilling me out... {#Meditate}

I hate double-posting, but it's surprising that this song was covered—-hardly any Morphine song gets covered at all.

Most of us would have got the TH reference even without the link.

Fred, I think the original album version (on Sandbox) might be much more to your liking; the sexiphone makes its presence very well known on that version; metaphorically, it takes the driver's seat on that track, whereas it just stretches out in the back here.

Morphine minus sax equals Ho-Hum, going by this number in which the sax very much takes a back seat. The other Morphine stuff played on RP has been the dog's bollox, so this is a bit disappointing. 3 from the Nottingham jury.

Exactly, it's a cover song. The original is "Celluloid Heros" from "The Kinks"

This is a really great song. I've never given Morphine much consideration before, but I'm listening now...

I am a Florida kid, but I lived in Central Square, Cambridge, MA in the early 90's. I lived through the "storm of the century" and another horrible winter two years later. One of the things that got me through it intact was a drinking couple of pints of "springtime" aka Harpoon IPA while listening to Mark Sandman with one of his side project bands at the Green Street Grill every Tuesday night. I miss this inventive soul.

I know this one from a CD by Catie Curtis - My Shirt Looks Good On You, 2001. It says the composer was M. Sandman. Anyone know who that is?
