I like that her sweater reflects tiger stripes, i.e. the album name. Have I dunk too much wine? Pretty good song, though played a lot.

I THINK I COULD TRULY APPRECIATE THIS EXCEPT THAT G. H. TUNE 20 MINUTES AGO THAT MAKES IT HARD TO APPRECIATE ANYTHING ELSE EVEN WHEN I'M HIGH. |

After seeing the post from fredriley I couldn't resist using one of the greatest literary references for everyday speech. I wasn't aware of the "Shanty of the Whale"; thanks for the pointer. I agree with what you say. I'd add that lyrically it's a very smart song. I think she's one those artists who really benefits from songs that push her voice to the front and are stripped down musically. Unfortunately, some of her really smart lyrics get lost, IMHO, with overly-produced, "pop"y releases. |

She's known for being a singer and guitarist but on her recent solo tour she performed this track on the piano. I'm not ashamed to say it was one of the most moving performances I've ever had the privilege to enjoy.
If you think she's just another singer/songwriter, with the greatest of respect and without prejudice, you couldn't be more wrong. (And that voice! Such a voice.)
