Today at Lollapalooza, Grant Park in downtown Chicago, Illinois; The new songs seemed to me as well, some interesting guitar solos, good voice of the lead-singer, good piano. They have a clean sound. A group decent and promising, I think. I do not know the previous work, so I can not get a broader view. I got the feeling that may have its own space and assert itself. But it seems that did not have much luck here in Paradise, and are from Los Angeles, California. "Better to fall from grace, than to be funny". .

I love "Nothing is Wrong",it's a fantastic cd and Dawes is one of my absolute favorite bands. Try the song "So Well" from this cd. Dawes is a fantastic live band, they totally blew me away the first time I saw them (it was one of my all-time favorite performances and I see a ton of live music.) Get their "North Hills" release, a near perfect cd imho. They do a live jam of "Peace in the Valley" that is killer. Taylor is a fantastic lyricist and all the guys are skilled musicians. Love them endlessly. |

If he wanted someone to clean him up, he'd find himself a maid?
Thems is some profound lyrics (albeit inaccurate: a maid wouldn't clean you up, a nurse or orderly or your mom might).
Terrible song.

Heard another track from this album this morning. Don't like it. Just doesn't do anything for me but the Browne allusion is probably apt.

I say he's the bastard son of Jackson....from some wild fling one night in Laurel Canyon. Because those two HAVE to be sharing DNA. |

Q: What do you get when you cross Neil Young and Jackson Browne?

Dig it. The first thing I thought was that it was a Phish pinoff because the singer's voice is similar. And I can definitely hear Neil Young in the guitar sound. Very, very nice.

I thought for sure it was Jackson Browne until Bill said otherwise. |
