...okay, this is pretty cool:  far more intriguing musically than most of his music i've heard previously...

..caught Gotye's show 12.Oct here in FW/D..very strong & tons of percussion (even the synth stuff was usually struck by a mallet or whatnot)..appreciate him more after the show & getting some exposure there to his earlier stuff..

..interestingly, "Somebody That I Used to Know" was one of the briefer tunes in the show..not over-glamorized as you'd imagine a "hit" tune to be..played just about mid-set, fairly low key, & got it done then moved along..

..thought that was pretty cool, myself..

Time will tell I would say.  As far as I can see Somebody that I used to know is superior both musically and lyrically to the rest of his stuff which I would say is passable but not very interesting.  I'll be surprised to see anything else from him with as much substance.

I found 'Somebody' a bit hard to listen to at first... I was disappointed that he was making vacant pop music to sell records, when his stuff was usually so obscure and off the wall.

I still don't agree that it has more substance than any track on 'Drawing Blood', but I'm getting used to it, and if it means he finally gets a toe into the US market, then I'm all for it.

Hummm. So Peter Gabriel is followed by his spiritual successor. Nice one Bill.

So far I've only heard anyone outside of RP talking about Somebody That I Used To Know, which is disgraceful because this guy is NOT a one hit wonder.  Also, reports of his death have been greatly exaggerated.

Ya know, I have heard him a lot on the radio, and that stuff I hear there is a lot different from what I hear here, it's more mainstream on the radio, not as good.
