Wow, this was a complete surprise. Love that emotional cello. They say violin is the instrument most like the human voice, a soprano I guess. So cello is like the baritone: the Eddie Vedder voice of string instruments.

Yes!!!{#Yes}  (And I guess violin would be the Kate Bush voice?)  This is a really captivating piece!

its a cross between Metallica's unforgiven (s&m version) and the Game of Thrones soundtrack!

there is something so commanding, and yet something so gentle about the cello. a remarkable instrument - and this song amplifies both characteristics marvelously. bravisimo.

It's 2005 mid-year. I am new to a community in the Oakland, CA. As the sun is rising, a cello makes itself known throughout the space. We have danced all night, we have laughed and loved in a way that is known in the Bay Area. I pick myself up off the floor, and dance and dance and dance. Sun pours in the east facing windows of the space that will be known as "Sweet's Ballroom". The cellist is a tangential member of the sacred dancing community, Zoe Keating.

To hear her again on RP is no less thrilling as I am transported to that morning and that dancing. Enjoy her musical magik and thank you RP for the reminder.

I thought it was Black Sabbath and maybe from Hellsongs "Hymns in the key of 666". I don't mean any disrespect, thought it was excellent. It just really carried that heavy metal vibe.

Ever try explaining to a stranger how much new music includes the cello-?   "If it ain't 4-piece band, it ain't rock. I ain't listening." Oh well.

The guys in 2Cellos do a cello version of "Miserlou" that almost passes Dick Dale... almost

My (not so little now) tube amp is insisting I bump this up to 10, but I'm resisting for future gratification of an en-godlike-ing....

Love Zoe Keating.  Just looked on her website and even though I have seen loads of great gigs lately I am terribly disappointed to have missed her in London a couple of weeks ago.

The longer this track goes on the more I need an 11.
