Oh, thank God!  I tuned in just the second song after this hour's piece of Bob Marley boredom.  And caught this nice piece of Scandinavian Country, besides.

Given that all musicians are influenced by those before them, the more interesting question is, who are they influenced by?  In this case, it's obviously Emmylou Harris.  This show excellent taste.
 

I'm almost certain that sonic researchers could take her voice and develop a device for stripping paint.
It's already doing a fair job on my ears.

I still don't enjoy their cover of "When I Grow Up" as much as the original but I must say that they have pretty wonderful voices.  Of course I suspect that Karen Dreijer Andersson and Olof Dreijer have a lot to do with helping them since their record was produced on Rabid Records which is owned by The Knife.

Very enjoyable. Has a sadness about it, sentimental, bitter sweet.

Abba does country.  Quite nice but not for buying.

I hear many songs in this vein...strong vocally, but so weak musically.  Not that the playing is bad, but rather unimaginative. 

Pretty song, fine singing, cool message.

Here's to Graham & Johnny & June - their music lives forever.

And here's to Emmylou- still here to make new music for us.

This song echoes a cut on the Emmylou Harris album "Luxury Liner" which has the lyrics "..if you'll be my tall dark stranger / I'll be your San Antonio Rose".  These women obviously cut their teeth on Ms. Harris.
