Those same strange people actually like this band. I'm baffled. Jim Morrison...an overrated lyricist and vocalist. Unique though...I'll give him that. No one in the world sounds like him.

Yeah, Jim even said Robby was great. I think that was after he punched Robbie in the eye, though.  Q - Didn't you appear with a black eye onstage at one point? What was that all about?

Manzarek is an interesting chap and a great musician, but that doesn't save the band.
Maybe it's just that I feel like Morrison had read far too much of his own press... he released a lot of stuff that I think many others would have left on the cutting room floor. "Come on baby light my fire?" Please.

obviously you weren't around yet, but that's the way people talked then. I too, have always known that Morrison was shitty poet, but at least he had the guts to say what before had been kept silent.
Tame by today's standards, but he was in serious trouble with the obscenity police. Killed him.

I've always like the lyrical content and melodies of this band...they definately had their own defined sound.
