I'm pretty sure he's already rubbed off on her more than a few times.

Solid song, but more Cheryl Crowesque than Patty Griffin, lyrics, tune, singing style.

I like Patty Griffin but this album and song are not her best IMHO.

Wish she would do more stuff like her Flaming Red album. I think it's her best!

If this is phoning it in, then I sure wish Patty had my number.

Well I am ashamed to say I was not too familiar with her before RP.   I love this and Changes, both off this album.   Hard to believe she has "better" stuff than this.   What do you all recommend??

Ditto re discovering her here. As for recommendations: just click on "Patty Griffin" in the now-viewing bar to get a list of most of her better output. Personally, my favorites are Change and Mad Mission.

Super tune. I love hearing her with all plugged in and playing loud. Wish she'd do it more.

Yes, I agree.  Lots of better PG songs from which to choose.
bump:

For Patty Griffin, it's merely okay. Which means it towers over 99% of what passes for popular music these days. We say this is ho-hum because, compared with her other work, it is. But her other work is so incredible, so 'stop what you're doing and just listen' amazing, this suffers by comparison.

Can you tell I'm a fan of Ms. Griffin?

150,000% agree.

I *love* "Little God". This is the first concert I went to by myself after my divorce. It was a "I can do this by myself" moment. Very necessary and empowering.

One of my absolute favorites. When I heard this song, I had never heard any other Patti Griffin. Now that I have, I'm even more impressed with her - it shows her range that she can sing a more pop-like song like this and then bust loose on a raw in-your-face song like "Change" or "Little God".
