it is a wonderful possibly prophetic song that you could go on and on about ,,,,, I have read and seen a few philosophies that espouse this same message ,,, zeitgeist and it's addendum ,,,, an ecology of hope ,,,,,,, even a priest Ivan Illich. Technology has made the world small ,,,, it is time to live together in harmony and evolve. slippery wrote: Or is he is referring to the goal, and not the ways and means? Whether you are a marxist or not I assume you once or twice have pondered how many problems that has derived from mankinds aimless hunger for more physical belongings? I, like you, don't think a prohibition of the right to own is any answer. But maybe, for your own sake, it isn't such a bad idea to stop for a second and think: Do I really need all this to feel satisfied? Or are there something else missing? Maybe I'm chasing the wrong rabbit.
Perhaps you can relate to what I'm saying. If not, think about it, and I hope you someday will see my point. Life is so much easier and more rewarding when you know you're not running in the wrong direction.
And I am not even going to get in to the religion bit. If it isn't obvious to you how much misery religion have led to, is leading to and always will lead to - I'm not sure I can help you with that. |

Do you really pray to God to inflict pain and suffering on others for their mistakes? No matter how great or infectious? No need to remind me to steer clear of your religion and beliefs. Such hatred. Lennon suffered and died. And Chapman is clearly disturbed and probably is suffering as well. Let us remember Lennon for the man of peace and love that he was and forget this other dude that ruined my Christmas in 1980. |

Does this really belong in a comment section for this song? What a strange juxtaposition to (presumably) support Lennon, and then to say something like this. |

Palaverist — you're missing the point. humanity will fall into a resource hierarchy until complete enlightenment has been reached by everyone.... john lennon is no less of a prophet for being a millionaire and saying 'imagine no possessions'. In his hands, money was as positive a force as money can be until the day money dies

I can imagine, but what will people do when all the world's problems are solved? I think they'll have to create new problems. We'd go crazy with boredom without conflict - we're "born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upwards" |

"Up-topia"? Is that where that horrible 70's act "Up With People" retired to? It's probably somewhere in Idaho. |

A board troll. How quaint, and so 90's. Seems your whole reason for existence is just to attack other posters who don't like the same music as you. People who attack strangers using the anonymity of the web like you have self esteem problems as they need to cut other people down to be able to feel superior. Must really suck to be you. Go piss in your own sandbox. |
