My prediction is that in the not too distant future multibazillionaire rock stars like the Eagles (and Clapton, who mailed in a Toronto show this year that also had a top ticket price north of $200) will be on display next to the dinosaurs at your local museum. I'll leave it to others to decide whether that's a good thing.
Thanks for your statement - interesting! And true! It's not worth to pay 200+ Dollars for any dino-band! The alternative is certainly a LIVE-DVD (or CD) - especially in case of the EAGLES and their last world-tour. OF COURSE - live is live is live and no DVD can compete for all the obvious reasons. Still - the EAGLES came very-very close with their Australia-concert recorded to get out as LIVE-DVD! A LEGACY! |

Not a friend of "STADIUM-BANDS",
never been a friend of the EAGLES
(despite some great songs),
but recently I saw their LIVE-DVD
from their final world-tour (Australia)...
and...?
Was TOTALLY STUNNED at the XXXtreme quality!
- of the band as a whole,
- of all 4 (!!!) solo-guitar players,
- Joe Walsh's qualities as singer (and great guitar, of course)
- 4 (!) perfect singers all part of the original band (and I mean super-super perfect)
- the perfect presentation in a sound and light-quality I have possibly NEVER seen!
- the harmonies
- the vibes at the concert
It was just a magical night - even on DVD one can feel that!
For ll EAGLES-fans who have not seen this concert (live or on DVD)
it is certainly one of the "MUST-HAVE'S")
and, again - I am NOT an EAGLES fan!

I like some of the Eagles stuff, particularly the Desperado album and a few of their other tunes, including this one.
To me these guys are prototypical twentieth century rock stars in so many ways: the money, the coke, the women.
Scroll forward to the 21st century: thanks to digital, the music industry is no longer in a position to charge basically whatever it wants for the records, and so artists are touring more.
I recently saw these guys in Toronto. We actually were there for the Dixie Chicks, but after 35 years on the road you know the Eagles are gonna put on a very professional show. And they did.
Was it worth $240 a seat? Naw —- but that's what the demise of the recording side of the industry has wrought.

I loved this song since the first time I heard it. The association with the guide just makes it better. So long as this song plays, Aurthur, Ford, Trillian and Zaphod live on... Now, about that Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster, just make sure the benzine is fresh.

Then, after a quick visit to 2004 for a ProTools session (and after dubbing the results to 1/4' analog via a subspace link to Abbey Road Studios), they came on back to the bar for a few more rounds. ...And the rest is History! (Or prophesy, depending on how you look at it.)  Also, had it not been for this strange occurrence, Joe Walsh probably would never have joined The Eagles! |
