Yeah! I have Sony Studio Monitor MDR V6 phones and the bass flourish about 1/4 through the song is a wowza moment. Love the "growl" description. |

I have really enjoyed not liking this song, but my plans and schemes are crumbling. Rats. I like it. What's next? I supposed I'll be glad I like it before too long. |

One of the two good cuts by Morphine.......this and Head With Wings.......after that it's all down hill like a 1/2 a day without a fix.

I mentioned to my wife that there was some "fast" Morphine playing on the RP. It took more than a minute before I realized what a kickass oxymoron that is.

Amazing what they did with a 2 string bass guitar, sax and drums.

So many great comments for this one. Just had to acknowledge that I thoroughly enjoyed that musical interlude — wish it lasted longer! |

I had to move it up to a 10 I've always loved their stripped down groove (can't get much more stripped than drums, sax, and two string bass).

I lived in Central Square, Cambridge, Mass. in the early 90's. Morphine was at the top of their tune, playing regularly at the Middle East. Sax man Dana played alto AND tenor sax at the same time for some of the songs. Mark removed the hi and low strings of his bass, ripped out the frets, and played it with a slide. This band invented a sound using instrumentation and style not common in the grunge era...AND they pulled it off brilliantly LIVE. Sandman used to play a little Thursday nite gig at the Green Street Grill with his jazz buddies. What a sense of humor and great attitude toward making music. I miss him and wish we were still getting more!
Thanks for playing them often Bill.
