"Still" and "Everlong" - they just never came out with any songs that could match those. I love them both. There have been derivative versions of those two, and that tends to make matters worse. I have always felt they are capable of much more than those two songs, but it probably won't materialize. At least it hasn't, IMO. Keep fighting, fighters of foo.

loving the foos here. The aucoustic "soft side" CD In your Honor has 10 like this. Good getting in the mood muzak. Then, when your work is done with the girl, you can move on to the hard rock side of In Your Honor, drink some beer and get in a fight! Good stuff.

I don't normally do the Foos, but this is stopping me in my tracks. I'm still expecting a right mauling when the drums really kick in though!

NIce! Thanks. And...Great track by them while we're at it. I'm not normally a FF fan either. peter_james_bond wrote:The term actually cmes from the 1940s - The term foo fighter was used by Allied aircraft pilots in World War II to describe various UFOs or mysterious aerial phenomena seen in the skies over both the European and Pacific Theater of Operations. - Wikipedia. So I'm curious, what is so unfortunate about "Foo Fighters"? |

Obviously, you thought wrong. You should have a listen to the live, acoustic album, "Skin & Bones". Dave Grohl can write in any genre.

Sounds like these guys try real hard to create some good music, and I like that...but it still seems to come a little short of something really compelling where I'd want to buy their stuff and listen to a full albums worth. The emotions there, but they dont seem to be saying anything that I need to hear.

I am a big fan of the FF, however, I think this album is the worst. They have some jewels like "The Color and the Shape" or " Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace" which are absolutely GREAT!!

Sounds lame but the meaning of the word is a lot cooler than it sounds. This coming from a guy who cringes every time he sees "foo" and "bar" in programming examples. |

The only connection is Grohl, in two completely different roles. I'm a big Grohl fan - for somebody who grew up in public he's remarkably level.
He was/is a great drummer but in my view Nirvana was an overrated band.
The Foos don't always hit the mark either, but when they do they're more musical than Nirvana ever was.
Well said. |
