Like this one better than Santana's "distortionised-distortion" version... Just heard from Bill that it's originally a Fleetwood Mac song, didn't know that!

I'll assume you're trying to be polite, but no, not all of us love the last version of Fleetwood Mac.

Wow - I was just introducing a younger friend to the "Peter Green Fleetwood Mac" on Friday via this song. Like a lot of folks, he was only aware of the mid-70s version of the band. Great to hear this on RP, thanks!

Tragic.  I wonder if he and Syd Barrett went off on the same trip.

I hear you Limpo! I have to coorect myself, it was late 70's not 80's. Actually, "In The Skies" came out in 1979. And you are right, we are not worthy!

My favorite years for Fleetwood Mac are those with Peter Green. The later stuff is ok, big in my high school years, but not as edgy as this material.

If you like the guitar work here, you need to pick up a copy of "In the Skies" by Peter Green from the late 80's. Not sure if was one of his last before going completely off the deep end. But it is a fantastic hauntingly brilliant album. Green's guitar work was unique, kind of sound that would send a chill up your spine.

Way back when, before all the West Coast pop garbage, there was a Fleetwood Mac album, called Black Magic Woman, if memory serves correctly, that was all blues, and far better than what they ended up as.

Huh?  this SMOKES Santana's cover.  Turns out Carlos stole a lot of his sound from Peter Green, who he freely admits to idolizing.

Fleetwood Mac did a whole bunch of VERY cool stuff before they got famous, thanks to two genius schizophrenic guitarists, Peter Green and Danny Kirwan.  It's worth checking out.  Peter Green was on the same talent level as Clapton, Page, Beck, and yes, Santana.  Unfortunately, his mental illness cut his career short.

we all love the mainstream magic of "Rumours", when the addition of Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks catapulted the MAC to pop/rock stardom up somewhere in the stratosphere...........but.....nothing compares to the early classic moments of Fleetwood Mac under the inspirational genius of Peter Green and Robert Welch.........check out classics like "Hypnotized", "Emerald Eyes", and "Sentimental Lady"....no one makes music like these tunes anymore.....or even back then.....these classics stand alone, frozen in time

Back in the day, WABX (Detroit) simulcast the FM stereo portion of a TV studio "concert" these guys did on channel 50. Pretty revolutionary stuff back then and, yes, it was amazing to watch Peter, Jeremy and Danny trading licks! This wasn't your big sister's "Ed Sullivan Show", "American Bandstand", "Shindig", or "Hullabaloo".

(Bear in mind this was easily 15 years before VHS tapes, never mind DVDs.)
