pleasant melody.....just take it for what it is, a nice simple song. Too many people have too many expectations about what DG should be doing for them.

Man, I could not agree more.  I happen to like this song and I think it is because of the simplicity.  Underated album also, IMO.

Trite rhymes, old tricks, a huge string backup section that assures a soft-pop classification. Add to that the choral backup singers and the over-attempt at sounding under-produced and you get ... lame.

I agree with you. There's nothing wrong with this tune. And Stringray, I think what you meant to say was dreamy.

No idea why I like this song

I have no idea why I didn't like the My Morning Jacket just before this

they sound similar.

David Gilmour's work crowds the top 100 listener ratings here and although it I don't really care for this, if he is satisfied with it who am I to tell the maestro what kind of music he should be making.

Well, this album at least proves who was NOT the genius behind all that great Pink Floyd stuff.........

Like Lennon & McCartney, Jagger & Richards, Page & Plant, Townshend & Daltrey, and so many others, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Neither Waters or Gilmour ever produced a solo record that could rival their Floyd material. That's just the way it is!

I PROTEST!!!   If you can't appreciate David Gilmour and - especially - this albumn (in it's entirety), your soul is filled with blackness...or you just don't have one!

I think the point really, is that once in a great while, the perfect combination of talents and genius come together and things like Pink Floyd, The Who, The Rolling Stones, and The Beatles happen.

I disagree. No one ever doubted that Waters was the lyrical and conceptual genius behind Floyd, but Waters' solo albums have suffered under the weight of too much lyric and too much conception, and not enough musicality. Waters took credit for writing most Floyd songs, but when they were at their peak — Meddle, Dark Side, WYWH, Animals, The Wall — Gilmour's musical presence is what gives life to Waters' words. Even on Animals. Gilmour only has a writing credit on "Dogs," but he is all over the album, especially on "Sheep."

And there is some really great stuff on this album. It's mellow, yes, but "On an Island" brings us right back to WYWH and "Take a Breath" brings us right back to Animals. But Gilmour has also matured, and there is an understated confidence to his music here.
