Both are claimed by Christians as Christian artists in the mainstream scene.

This reminds me a little of Nebraska in that it completely transcends its production value.  Both sound like they could have been recorded by one or two dudes in their basements, but that is not what you end up focusing on.  The music completely removes itself from the "sound" of the recording, if that makes sense.

This isn't nearly as good as Nebraska, but I think it deserves a good listen.

The very model of 'Ho-Hum'. Puts me in mind of The Smiths number which goes "Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head" ;-|

pretty sure this is a "DIY" recording, done at sam beam's home.  as i understand his quiet style of singing was a result of his practicing music after his little daughters were in bed......

Right on. This one got me as I swear I've heard my son's say some of those exact phrases to their mother. Heartbreaking - not boring at all.

Eldest Son: "Mother don't worry, I've got a coat and some friends on the corner"

Youngest Son: "Mother don't worry, she's got a Garden we're planting together"

Down the drain? In the garbage heap in the sky? No.. I'm just kidding...

I just think they are very boring. I rated this a 5 because I don't hate it, but definately don't like it that much. It's good at very rare intervals.

Stepped on some toes, huh? Look, I bought three of their albums, listened to them for a number of weeks, and came to the concluson that they are a band of limited artistic range and dimension (a polite way of saying "boring"). I may be wrong, and I admit it's a subjective evaluation, Nevertheless, it's my opinion, not whining. If you like I&W, I'll gladly send you my albums if you'll pay for the postage.

Couldn't agree more (about the "limited artistic range and dimension"). I've enjoyed a few of their songs, but I really don't get much else out of them. As a result, I listen to them very rarely.

No. I&W has a particular style, to be sure. But saying they all sound the same is foolish and intellectually lazy. Or dare I say, WHINY.

You might as well say, "all their songs." They all sound the same. This one may stick out as being particularly plodding and whiny.

This is a lot similar to Jeff Buckley's version of Dancing in the Moonlight.

Reminds me of a song by the Foo Fighters, I think off of the Colour and Shape LP. Digging this.
