Same thoughts I had. Had to check it out to make sure it wasn't from the Deadwood soundtrack.

Interesting insight.  I had forgotten about Ry Cooders Paris, Texas (which I like a lot), but you're right, there is a similarity.

Inaritu is overrated and so is this music. Though decent and mildly fresh it's really a very slight reworking of some Villa Lobos pieces from
60 years ago. An unsatisfying movie with unsatisfying music to match!

I don't really understand how they can give them an Oscar to a man that doesn't know anything about music

This music always reminds me of Deadwood, which was fantastic, like the music...

BABEL is one of the most intense and moving films I've ever seen — and the music is simply hard-wired to the experience. Though it is tremendously evocative on its own, it will always take me instantly to that deep place.

Thanks for the beautiful segue!

This song puts my nerves on edge—-and no wonder. It was written for a tense part of the film.

I found this soundtrack so much more compelling than the movie (and I loved Amores Perros by Iñárritu).

One of those incredible pieces of music that seems to be deeply evocative even though you are not entirely sure what it is evoking...
