I tried to listen to Skip Spence, didn't like his voice—-he was in the line of people who went all the way mad being in permissive scenes with lots of LSD (Syd Barrett, Roky Erickson) who were somewhat legendary in said scenes.

Hey - I had a Moby Grape album around 1960's or so and when I played it for some of my 'friends' they labeled me wierd; at least my musical taste then.  I guess that they just did not understand reasonably good music. Oh well.....

This, along with "Omaha" and "8:05"—hell, almost anything on the album, is more typical of the Grape than yesterday's "Sitting by the Window." In response to another post below, Spence died years ago, and, yes, he'd been hospitalized for some time after showing up at the recording studio with an axe and asking where Don Stevenson was. Scary shit.

Ah Moby Grape. What might have been. They have always been one of my favorite SF bands. Way overhyped when they began. Moby Grape '69 is a wonderful roots rock record.
