EXACTLY! My initial reaction was, "Not in your life, Martha." |

Ooooh .... BAD! Big fan of both Martha and Floyd, but this is just a bad cover :( I think I need another listen, but my snap judgement is thumbs down.

Listen to Bowie's cover from Pinups. That was my intro to the song and to Syd's Pink Floyd. |

Agreed. Makes me wonder what she was thinking, other than to perhaps generate a flurry of comments herein. |

I agree. With the title it creates a kind of sad an sexy story in one pic. By the way the album is really interesting. By that I don't mean it's-not-good-but-have-to-get-on-the-bandwagon (I'm not a newspaper rock critic), it's just that it develops with each listening and I'm still in the process. And this song fits well in the mood of the album. |

This song fits perfectly with the album title: not exactly feel-good material, hard to pin down. I like most everything Loudo's kids do, including this.

Syd Barrett wrote this one, that dude was absolultly fucking nuts, there was nothing mainstream about this song. This dude was tripping acid out of his mind when he wrote this. According to A Saucerful of Secrets: The Pink Floyd Odyssey, by Nicholas Schaffner, Emily is the Honourable Emily Young (b. March 13, 1951), daughter of Wayland Hilton Young, 2nd Baron Kennet, and nicknamed "the psychedelic schoolgirl" at the UFO Club. During the sessions for the song, David Gilmour was a visitor to the studio, after being invited by Syd. He was shocked by what he perceived as a change in Syd's personality, and Syd did not appear to even recognise his old friend, despite having invited him there in the first place. |

This actually sounds more creepy than Pink Floyd's, I didn't think that was possible.
