Like the songs, just can't get past the lead singer's voice. He sounds like a 13 year old boy. I envision the sound engineer scooting a chair up so he can reach the microphone.

I was working on something else when this song came on, and I had to stop and listen. Loved the vocals, the rhythm, the sheer musicality - and then I saw that it was Silversun Pickups. Day-am, I really love this group. Them, and Turin Brakes. Maybe this has to do with my life lately, and my space in the universe. Two CDs I'm definitely going to buy, once I'm laid off from my current job and get on unemployment so I can afford them. |

(How do they do that? do the sound engineers turn up the "goosebumps dial" or something?) |

Just saw them at East River Park in Brooklyn NY. They put on a very strong show. They did not play this tune, which is one of my favorites but given how many one hit wonders will always abound. This band can put out a total album with strong songs. Don't forget the references to Smashing Pumpkins is just their lineage. It isn't bad to sound like another band. That is sort of how it works, no?

I usually dislike anyone who's nominated for a Grammy, but these guys are good. I like Nikki on bass too, very talented!
He sounds like the singer who died in Alice in Chains

Thanks to RP for introducing me to yet another band I haven't heard elsewhere. I'm on the fence re the vocals but overall a big thumbs up.

Sometimes you just suddenly hear something you've been hearing for several months and realize it's really very good—-beautiful.

There sure seems to be a lot of people who CAN TELL the difference and those are the people that seem to count here at RP. SSP just came to Rochester NY (an hours drive from my house) 2 days before I went on their website to see about touring! AHHHH!!! Gotta pay better attention to the things you love. Awesome band and the new album is very, very strong. Highly recommend. Awesome driving music. Especially on boring state highways to keep the mind going. |
