oh, sorry, thought this was the Roger Waters thread that talked about how much Porcupine Tree was influenced by Pink Floyd, and how the guitar track at the end is close but no "have a cigar" to David Gilmour. But I must be in the wrong place, since it's just a nice song with sgt pepper horns at the end....

Is that different than regular treacle? Does it come in a bottle and more importantly, can you draw it from a well? <asked the Mad Hatter> |

Well put, and that's my dilemma: Alan Parsons and Pink Floyd, among many others, showed just how good such treacle can be. I can't help liking this. |

Some of us remember them only too well - my secondary (high to you guys across the Pond) school was like Lord of the Flies, and affects me even now in very profound ways. Count yourself lucky I can't write songs or you'd be hearing about it ;) For all that, I do think Roger Waters went over the top with a double album of his life troubles, but then he was a rich and famous star so could be forgiven some self-indulgence. |

I actually thought "What — is this Porcupine Tree?" when it first started to play. The vocal doesn't sound that much like them but the sleepy instrumental sounds like the beginning of one of their songs. The other difference is they don't keep the sleepy vibe, that's just where they start.
Paul actually really likes Porcupine Tree, so it's no wonder his music is influenced by them. His music is quite different, though. He should have a new album coming out some time this year. It will be most interesting to see what he has come up with for his second album. |

It seems to be an 8 now. The song is nice, but somehow, voting for yourself is, in my humble opinion, a bit uncool... Oh please, chill, he was supposed to give himself a 10, that's what i would do even if I knew I was a 7-8! |
