Rare, but not extinct - I caught it tonight. Nifty! Anyway, thanks Bill, Built to Spill, and double bills.

It's true: in Canada, morning comes in freight ships while you're sleeping. This has some downsides. In 1993 there was a horrible Nautical Disaster in which it seems a morning freighter was, indeed, Built to Spill. Off the British Columbia coast, morning spilt from the damaged vessel across the country, reversing the natural order in which those in the east wake up first. Many of us in the west were traumatized by having been woken up much too early, during deep REM sleep.  Greenpeace members, who would have been the first to point out the inherit dangers of shipping morning, were too dazed to organize themselves. The morning industry has only grown since then, controlled by a few Japanese exporters whose red-sun flags remind us who controls whom. And while there have been no other incidents, many Canadians go to bed nervous each night, not knowing which would be worse: if morning never came, or if it came too soon.

Rust Never Sleeps.

Well if that wasn't bad enough, now winter nights are shorter and days longer, and summer —- a total black out !
I've heard that chancellor has consulted Arizona to find out how to borrow some time that Az. has banked away
by not falling for the old "Spring ahead, Fall back" crapola. . . . Canadians also have researched jet-lag as a means
to cushion the reversal of effects which occur, when crossing the border, into the US. Stay tuned.

I wish I could tell you brother, but I'm afraid it was one of those magical once-in-a-lifetime-moments.
You know the ones that flash before your eyes, for a short instant stopping all clocks, bringing your whole reality to a screaming halt. Soon before receding and perishing in a silent void of the past, never to be reached and felt again. Leaving you standing stark naked and somewhat afraid, with no less than a coctail of emotions stirring your whole inside. And in your hands holding all you thought you knew of the world, while before your eyes reality now has turned completely upside down.

These moments are unfortunately not shipped by japanese exporters. The up side is that they are free of charge. Down side: rare.

I used to like these guys; I bought "You in Reverse" after hearing some of the tracks here on RP. Now, I don't like them anymore. Most of the time, I'm pretty tolerant of unusual voices, but this guy's voice bugs me now.

Hm:

Built To Spill - Hindsight ... mentions Canada
Big Sugar - All Hell For A Basement ... mentions Alberta
Son Volt - Medicine Hat ... mentions a city in Alberta

This is fun.

P.S. Thanks ioanthe, how generous!

I wonder if you can do an auto-rate? Every Built To Spill song that's been played on RP has been a nailed-on Ho-Hum. If I have to have a leg amputated without anaesthetics please play this whole album to me and I'll be numb to anything by the end of it {#Sleep}

Hmmm. if you listen to the Southpark boys, we can just blame Canada!  But then, what is Canada guilty of?  Oh yeah, having universal healthcare, encouraging multicultural diversity, allowing gay marriage, loving ice hockey and being all-around nice people.  But don't piss us off.  We have guns.

Please! Please!  No DFA!     (Death From Above)   We promise to behave well.  Promise!  -lol-

Tagish_girl:  Just want to let you know that increasingly Canadians have guns too.   To own one, it helps to be male, between the ages of 16 and 35, extremely insecure; apparently possessing an IQ of less than 90 helps too.

Two males in the 30s were pulled over at the 4-way stop near our quiet suburban home on Christmas Eve.   Two streets up, they had backed into a parked car and upon leaving the scene of the accident, switched drivers.  (Thanks to vigilant neighbours who called the police.)  The drive had a hand gun on him.  Illegal, most likely US origin.    Do the police often intercept weapons like this?  Not in the past.

In 2009, the Greater Vancouver area suffered a epidemic of public shootings.  Probably as result of the increased use of informants by the police.

And don't call it "ice" hockey. Despite what the IOC may think, it's just hockey.

You know what, my friend, you've hit on something that I've wondered about since I subscribed to RP in 2006.

I have made the same comment about Oasis a number of times —- their best stuff isn't playlisted here.

You will not find a bigger fan of the Goldsmiths than me, but once in a while they just have a blind spot.

On balance, they deserve our gratitude for what they do, though, so let's sit back and enjoy the ride.

Nope, not since 1987. but I do live about an hour outside of Toronto, so I do hear all their gun-related news. I'm not too far removed from gun violence.
