The Test Kitchen just did an incredible version the other day.
My dad used to make that for us in Ireland - without the Guinness.
We knew better better than to waste good beer in food.

I'm really fed up with the gridlock with those goons at the bakery. When are pies and cakes going to find common ground and get something done!?

The common ground would be the gentle overskin of my sensitive tongue and the riotous clashing of my well-worn submariner's teeth... while my bent and swollen lips lay down the counter-rhythm with an enthusiastic "slap, slappity, slap slap" then the entire wad of delight is swallowed like a wet brick in Autumn and glides down the juice-eager chute of my quivering food tube where it rejoices in the dark, moist, welcoming pit of my very being. This, sir, is the common ground of cake and pie.

probably some baker union issues

the cake and pie lobbies have been at odds since the Dessert Menu Entitlement Act in 1968

call your congressperson and alert the Office of Bakery & Pastry Regulation and they'll send in a SWAT team in, tear the place apart, kick some ass, eat a wheelbarrow full of cake and pie evidence and fine the hell out them

remember we're all entitled and deserve dessert better!

i was bad in a good way today

went to a great little diner for lunch

had a sensible meal (fish/snapper tacos and salad) while everyone else had open-faced turkey plates piled with gravy and mashed

however i completely lost control when i saw the fresh pie-of-the-day

BLUEBERRY!!!
