bam23 Feb 21, 2013 - 21:23	At the Golden Gate Park memorial concert for Bill Graham, it was this song, played at high volume, that in some way made the entire event worthwhile. This song was a staple on FM radio way back when so called underground stations were where one heard the better music of the day. Now, Radio Paradise not only serves the same general purpose, but does it much better. [ Reply ]

Boy_Wonder Jan 21, 2013 - 13:47	Wow, I always thought that I had had a good musical grounding in the late sixties/early seventies. but this one passed me by entirely - my great loss! The track is excellent - really into it, despite the fact I was 14 when it was recorded, all those years ago! BBC4, part of our great BBC, has just showed a documentary on Southern Rock, including the Allmans = saved on the hard drive ready for a night in by the woodburner.. A n epic 1970s tale about a group of rebel rock bands who rose up from one of the most unpopular, marginalised parts of the USA - the Deep South - and conquered the world. The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd and others that followed did this entirely on their own terms, blending the music of the region - blues, country, rock and roll - with a gung-ho attitude that set the South, and then America, on fire. Their diverse styles, from juke joint boogie and country-rock honks to cosmic blues blasts, had a huge cultural and political impact, even helping to elect Jimmy Carter as president in 1976. Their extraordinary adventure is brought to life through vivid period archive and contributions from the survivors of those crazy times, including Gregg Allman, REM's Mike Mills, Doug Gray, Al Kooper, Bonnie Bramlett, Charlie Daniels and other key figures in the movement.
