One of the few live songs where I prefer the audience screaming to the artist's singing. Yeah, I know, you hadda be there, but I wasn't. In gigs like this, I wonder what roadies do with all the knickers that are thrown on the stage?

Let me guess, yesterday was a bit o' hell, today is a bit of heaven theme? The Xavier Rudd song a couple back was incredible.

My fondest (musical) desire is that Paul Simon revokes the playing rights to all of his songs after 1975.
Um, and maybe that Janis Joplin gets to sing another concert, but that's just crazy.

I couln't disagree more. That's not to say that his pre-'75 stuff is bad. It's great too, but he's created so much amazing stuff (including this beautiful song) in his career that he should have a galaxy, or at least a solar system, named after him.

Great song originally from The Rhythm of the Saints in 1990... love this live version, too...

Lucky to have lived in the era of Mr. Simon's genius.

I heard the picking and thought it was Oliver Mtukudzi, then caught myself and realized that if it's not, it must be Paul Simon.

This is pretty good. He has enough songwriting equity that songs like this have more gravity than if it were someone else. I quite like the studio version of this (and that whole album, truly).

wow

Down among the reeds and rushes
A baby boy was found
His eyes as clear as centuries
His silky hair was brown Never been lonely
Never been lied to
Never had to scuffle in fear
Nothing denied to
Born at the instant
The church bells chime
And the whole world whispering
Born at the right time Me and my buddies we are travelling people
We like to go down to restaurant row
Spend those euro-dollars
All the way from washington to tokyo
I see them in the airport lounge
Upon their mother's breast
They follow me with open eyes
Their uninvited guest Never been lonely
Never been lied to

Never had to scuffle in fear
Nothing denied to
Born at the instant
The church bells chime
And the whole world whispering
Born at the right time Too many people on the bus from the airport
Too many holes in the crust of the earth
The planet groans
Every time it registers another birth But among the reeds and rushes
A baby girl was found
Her eyes as clear as centuries
Her silky hair was brown Never been lonely
Never been lied to
Never had to scuffle in fear
Nothing denied to
Born at the instant
The church bells chime
And the whole world whispering
Born at the right time

Pure genius. The classics are out this morning. Cure, Paul Simon and now the beuna vista social club. No complaints from me.

To his credit, Art Garfunkel is still touring. This is a beautiful song, BTW.

His (et. al.) performance of "Cool, Cool River" at this concert is amazing. Worth the price of admission for that song alone.
