NeuroGeek Jan 03, 2013 - 11:02 | Like it. This reminds me of background music to the Blinx video game that came with the first version of the Xbox. (In a good way, I miss that game!) |
coloradojohn Jan 03, 2013 - 11:00 | Always loved this...these guys have such a cool sound...so many other good songs on this record, too! A couple years after this came out, I was on a ski holiday in Germany and Austria, and jamming this through my early iPod while skiing through stuff like the snow-buggy scene on the cover made me feel ABSOLUTELY TRANSPORTED, and whoah, I gotta love that, and even the memories are WOW. |
Stingray Nov 01, 2012 - 18:06 | boring with no melody whatsoever! |
agd3 Aug 30, 2012 - 19:05 | Always after romeotumo, but this one sounds like Charlatans UK |
unclehud Dec 21, 2011 - 11:05 | Actually, Alpinestars is the name of motorcycle protective clothing rather than a motorbike manufacturer. (Protection for car and bicycle racers, too, and Nero urban fashion chic biker wear.) The cover art looks like the view from a heli-skier's back seat. The horizon is skewed, but the dangling straps aren't dangling vertically with respect to the horizon ... what's that all about? |

fuh2 Feb 11, 2009 - 13:16 | fluffybum wrote: what the shit is this??? Alpinestars was a electronica-rock duo based in Manchester. The Beginnings (1995-1999) Richard Woolgar and Glyn Thomas met each other in 1995 as a result of being in separate bands that shared the same rehearsal space. They found they had more in common with each other than with their respective bands, so they broke away to form their own ephemeral electro group, which they named "Maxim." <1> Although Maxim never produced anything, it brought Woolgar and Thomas to the attention of the promoter of a Manchester club called "Homoelectric." The pair was invited to create an hour-long set to perform live within a week. They finished mixing 20 minutes before they were scheduled to perform, and took the name "Alpinestars" after a mountain bike Thomas owned. <2> The gig was successful for the pair, who were reputedly shocked at the crowd's response. <1> |
