A timely song during the Pakistan elections.
Just listened to a podcast of BBC's Desert Island Discs from the 90's.
This song was in Imran Khan's top 8.
There you g- - some interesting but useless info for you all :)

Am I the last one to have just noticed the new Lyrics: link? I feel like an idiot. (Internet's been down since Tuesday; maybe that was it.)

I actually clocked this and it does NOT get longer every time I hear it.

seeing this album done live by R. Waters was one of the best concerts I've ever attended.

That's funny - your comment was in September 2012 but the last-played on this song still sez October 2011.

Boredom can make you do strange things.

I think this week marks the 40th anniversary of the release of 'Dark Side of the Moon'. Not sure if this was planned that way or if this just happened to be in the rotation at this time.

But... I feel that RP is playing all of the above too often for my taste. You would think this was just released considering the amount of airplay it is getting.

Maybe the problem is that I spend all together too many hours of each day listening to RP!

The purity of the sound, the sparse warbling, the endless drift of bending lines around into new spaces, is it the song I think it is? It is inconsequential non sequitors, all together that bring me to another relaxation moment away from the severity of life, at any particular time of my life, since I first heard it some many years ago. So, if it is or is not a classic that will be listened to or forgotten 100 years from now or 500 years from, it made its artistic and emotional monument with me, with my many friends and that is good enough. Let other people and other times make the most of their era, as I have with music from the dark side of the moon. It doesn't hurt to hear this after 1am east coast time. Thanks for the vibe.

I for one agree, and I would bet there are a lot more people who agree but hesitate to say so since PF seems to be an untouchable sacred cow, beyond criticism.

Hardly. Nobody and nothing is above criticism, including Floyd. IMO sacred cows should be slaughtered and roasted as a matter of course, even those cows I worship. Feel free to put the boot in, but be prepared for emotional responses. Similarly, writing that the Beatles were sh1te is permissible, nay encouraged, but will wind a lot of folk up.

I get your point and sympathise, even though I love this album. Funny you should write that, though, because Floyd have just released a 'collectors edition' of Dark Side with all sorts of song versions on it, for the Floyd connor-sewers. At £45 a pop I'll not be getting it, but I'm sure it'll sell bucketloads to the nostalgic middle-aged.
