The video for this song is VERY funny (maybe especially to me and other hardcore fans). Love that they don't take themselves too seriously.

and PS - I love Luc Besson's Nikita (.....na-KEEE-tahhh...)

Ha, had no idea there were so many, " La Femme Nakita," fans out there. I loved this series way back in the days of the corporate radio machine, every episode was scored with tremendous music that I had never heard of before!

Just an FYI for you Nakitaheads out there, the entire series is now available for purchase on iTunes, although it is a bit pricey.

And I just watched the original Luc Besson film for free on Hulu last week, definitely worth a re-take!

As far as I know, it's totally defunct. Your only option is to purchase all the seasons on DVD (and there are scant extras, but who cares? The show itself is worth to cost.) Warner Brothers totally dropped the ball on this show. And I'm not surprised.

Thanks for that, though it's taken me aback a bit - this is the kind of adulation/obsession/devotion that defines a series as "cult", right enough. Reminds me of those (including myself) who followed The Prisoner, many of whom went seriously over the top in their devotion, and indeed there are still annual Prisoner get-togethers at Portmeirion, so I've heard.

I never saw the TV series La Femme Nikita, but vaguely remember the original (Luc Besson?) film in French which was disturbing and genre-busting. I must make a point of getting it out of my local library to watch it again.

I edited my original post because apparently, my cat sat on the keyboard and deleted a bunch of stuff, so my comments didn't make a lot of sense. (Maybe they still don't.) As for the conventions, they were discontinued in around 2000. The original Luc Besson film was a lot darker and more violent than the series. He has an exceptional talent as a director, though. {#Mrgreen}

Actually, the television series was light-years better than the movies. Lots of cutting-edge music (ever heard of Rhea's Obsession? Vibrolux? Two excellent Canadian bands whose songs were used in the series. And they're just really nice people, too.) To my knowledge, the conventions stopped in about 2002 (the series was cancelled in 1999 but was brought back for an additional eight episodes by a rabid fan base. At one point, people were sending broken television sets to Peter Roth's office owned the copyright to the show and didn't even know it> with notes saying, "Won't be needing this anymore, since LFN has been cancelled." It drove him a little bit nuts.)

I recommend at least renting the first season of the series (NOT the new one which is WB's blatant attempt to cash in on what they let slip through their fingers the first time) but the one with Peta Wilson, Roy Dupuis, Don Francks, Matthew Ferguson, and the incredibly gorgeous Alberta Watson. It's worth a look. And a listen - tons of great music, not the least of which is Sean Callery's score. (He's a nice guy, too.)

Convention? Are there really conferences dedicated to this TV series? I've never seen it, but have seen the film, and have heard that the TV series isn't a patch on the film. Is this a cult series along the lines of, say, Buffy or The Prisoner?

Great DM number - 9 from the Nottingham jury.

The first time I ever heard this song was at a "La Femme Nikita" convention in Toronto in about 1998. It was playing at full volume, and all I could think was, "Holy crap - I think my heart just vibrated out of my body through my mouth." I didn't know it was Depeche Mode, but someone at the con told me, and I bought the CD right away. That bass-line just rocks me. A lot of the music of "La Femme Nikita" was Canadian artists and cutting-edge techno. Man, I miss that show...

Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Bill! {#Sunny}
