Ballzak Feb 25, 2013 - 13:33 | Remember staring at this album cover as a boy many years ago (it was my big bro's record) thinking, "oh.... is that really what I think it is? Tee-hee-hee!" It seemed so... bad, rebellious, and, well, rock 'n roll, baby! |
clickfaster Jan 25, 2013 - 06:09 | The passion that the Who expressed through their music is what has always grabbed me. |
martinc Nov 23, 2012 - 13:40 | Man listen to the drumming and bass playing... |

Stingray Sep 21, 2012 - 16:50 | SUCKO-BARFO for the cover-photo plus title! Childish! WHO climbs a mountain to piss? And another of the many-many bad Who-songs too!
PS Believe it - I like "Tommy" and the many early hits. But their LP's contain mostly fillers - this is a good example! Biggest Who-problem is that Townsend can`t play the guitar! |
max_p Jun 19, 2012 - 07:11 | RP is a Bargain everyday |

So I guess you walk out of a sports arena or a pub every time Rock and Roll Part 2 comes on. Sentence one; I doubt it. If you actually end up in court for such allegations there was substantial enough evidence to suggests otherwise. Dude payed for a child porn site with his credit card. If it were not for his high priced lawyer and I suspect a sympathetic jury who was raised on The Whos music he would have served time. Sentence two; absolutely I don't care if he likes kiddie porn. Dude is a great songwriter and guitarists. Sentence three; I do walk out but only because that song is horrible!!! |
sajitjacob Apr 16, 2012 - 18:35 | I just love the album cover it really makes me laugh. I can almost hear Townsend saying: "Right.. who's next?" |
hopper99 Jan 12, 2012 - 13:43 | Still great - after all those years! |

(biker without a bike) Nah - I steered clear of all teen sub-cultures if I could, not through snobbiness but simply because it could get your head kicked in. So often I saw some poor bugger dressed in a particular subculture uniform get twatted by adherents to another subculture, that I figured the 'personal statement' wasn't worth the time in Accident and Emergency. I did used to wear parkas, but mainly because they were bloody warm. Which reminds me of an old joke from the NI Troubles: Q: Why aren't there any Mods in Northern Ireland? A: Well, would you walk around Belfast with a target stitched on your back? I'll get me parka... |
Cynaera Mar 03, 2011 - 00:30 | I kinda really love this song. I love The Who. It took me a little while to understand this song, but once I realized it wasn't the song, but the concept, I finally got it. And then I dropped acid and REALLY got it. (Just kidding.) Whatever people might say about The Who, they were pioneers, and to me, every song meant something. I guess that would explain why I'm so fu*ked up now. I love The Who. Geez - is this confession gonna get me executed? |
mapman Jan 30, 2011 - 16:46 | Good stuff! Great band. |

ronniegirl Nov 28, 2010 - 16:57 | The.Best.Band.Ever. Pete's guitar, Keith's drums, John's bass, and Roger's voice. The Best. |
oldviolin Aug 25, 2010 - 08:27 | I was 16 and the bargain had already been made behind my back. Fortunately the music carried me through... It was the best I ever heard... |
jimbaca Jul 24, 2010 - 08:30 | It all came together with this band. The quintessential rock band. Love Keith's machine gun drums! |
lemmoth Jun 22, 2010 - 11:47 | garycha wrote: Good point well made. And exactly why I have never liked the Who. OK but just terribly overrated, weak songs, overperformed in every sense. Keith Moon was a lovable inbecile (apart from regularly dressing up as a Nazi) who was an awful drummer incapable of holding down a beat. Roger should have stayed trout farming. And the Who still flogging that deadhorse with quite franky embarassing live shows. The Townsend kiddy porn allegations finally allowed my mind to dismiss the Who. We won't get fooled again Pete. "My Generation" stands alone as a classic and I have always had a soft spot for "Just a Boy". No - I think you missed the point. Pete - the orchestrator - knew who he had in Keith and John and he constructed the perfomances so that their job was not like 95% of all rock rythm sections - to hold down the beat. As for the songs - brilliantly conceived and structured - growing from a unique Brit version of American R& B through a unique way of telling stories and delivering rythms and melodies in varying ways. Roger - the epitome of a front man. Powerful, emotional vocals and great energy. Their last tour and album — a triumphant comeback from a place where I agree they were just flogging for dollars and not performing as well. As for "the allegations" Bollocks to the bullshit cops. Pete is an innocent man. And even if he weren't - I try to separate the art from the artist. So I guess you walk out of a sports arena or a pub every time Rock and Roll Part 2 comes on. |
