It is too bad that Allende and the Popular Front pushed through such a radical agenda with roughly 30% of the popular vote.

But then Neo-Marxists were never overly respectful of democracy and fellow citizens who did not agree with them.

Incidentally, I find a lot of similarities between the Neo-Marxist populist arrogance and the populism of rank and file members of the Republican party. Just sayin'.

Most of my family made it out of Cuba after Fidel's croanies took possession of all their property and rights. Many cubans have lived a broken and half life after their homes and families were ripped apart - including my own mother's. My uncle Manuelo was anti-Batista and a lawyer that represented the revolucion and Fidel. However, once he saw what Fidel was up to he started working politically against his authoritarian regime. Fidel thanked him by throwing him in prison for ~20 years. He made out when Fidel emptied the prisons in 1980 (which besides political prisoners sent a wonderful lot of rapists and murders to Miami).
