The Joshua tree is a plant in the southwestern United States, with sword-shaped leaves and greenish-white flowers grouped in large panicles...

a group of Mormon settlers who crossed the Mojave Desert in the mid-19th century named the plant the Joshua tree, after Joshua of the Old Testament — the forks of the tree reminded them of Joshua's hand raised as he prayed, and also the shape of the leaves reminded them of Joshua's spear...

the name of U2's album, The Joshua Tree , is complicated... first, the entire album has a religious theme... second, the title is a tribute to the global power of the United States... third, the album also shows U2's fascination with American culture, politics, and forms of music...

this is a great song...

Bono has stated that he originally didn't know whether the song was about Ireland or America, but eventually dedicated it to the Statue of Liberty. The song characterises the United States as a desert rose, a siren whose dress is torn in "ribbons and bows". The lyric speaks of a lack of political ideas in The West...

Everybody in my church loves this song...

First time ever two PSDs back-to-back... I am shocked at my actions...
My brain shrivels at the combination of U2 and Neil Young.... without pause...

I have operas on CD... I am not afraid to play them... Otherwise, carry on in the RadioParadise.com fashion we all love and enjoy...
I know where the Rossini is stored... I can lay hands on Massenet right away... and I know the secret hiding place of -both- copies of Rusalka by Dvorak... And I will play them -all- before I will sit thru 5 minutes of politically correct valium...

Let the record show, your honor, that the views of this obviously misguided soul do not reflect the views of all Oregonians.

Gee AndyJ, why don't you enlighten the rest of us unworthies and submit 48 hours of music that you think we should be listening to. Pretentious ass. Judging by the rest of the comments, you are quite alone. Very alone.

Get over yourself, opera boy. ("Rusalka, Massenet" . . . ooooooh, we're so impressed.)
