Greetings from London.

It is similar, but hardly a "rip-off" of one specific song. That drumbeat intro (or similar) has been used in a lot of songs, ("Oh, Pretty Woman" - by Roy Orbison, "Uptight" - by Stevie Wonder, "Love Is Like An Aching In My Heart" - by The Supremes, "Mystery Achievement" by The Pretenders, etc...). It's a pretty standard (offset kick-drum) beat, which has been on drum machines for decades, and on "Drumdrops" records before then. In terms of chord structure and melody, this song has almost nothing in common with the Janis Joplin tune.

I have to agree that it gets better when they stop singing, though I liked it quite a bit while they were singing, too!

Saw them live in 89 in Manchester. They were brilliant.

And they're supposed to be getting back together soon.
I heard rumors of Coachella Fest 2012?

A classic track from a classic album. The Stone Roses' fame was short lived, but I certainly remember when they were white hot.

No, and not to Guns n Roses, either.
