soja Nov 19, 2006 - 20:31 | I love Big Country. Their last studio album (Driving to Damacus, 2001?) was their best ever, IMO. It's great when a band can release so much good stuff. I keep discovering new stuff that makes me like them even more. Case in point: I have over 10 Big Country albums and have never heard this song. |
phreels Nov 19, 2006 - 20:27 | I liked it until the vocals began. Then even the riff lost it's appeal. |
redeyespy Sep 07, 2006 - 15:50 | Thanks, JE. Good stuff. I appreciate it a little more each time. |
auburntigerrich Jul 25, 2006 - 18:15 | I almost lost patience with this one... there it goes. |
horstman Jul 11, 2006 - 02:20 | The thing about his voice is that you either find it very lovely, calming and tender; or you find it to be irritating.
I think this band is very complex and alluring musically. His voice is unique and equally alluring. And although they may seem dated in the 80s, their music is still vibrant. |

jah_blessed May 28, 2006 - 05:57 | Not spectacularly bad, but not something I desperately need to hear again. The singing is flat. |
handyrae Apr 14, 2006 - 12:46 | To me this song sounds dated (i.e. firmly planted in the 80s), but the Kinks' Victoria that played just before doesn't. As they say in my native state--Go figure. |

Their debut album was actually called The Crossing . You're right about the "great band" part though. |

BikeCoachDave Jan 16, 2006 - 09:45 | Killer song. |
coding_to_music Dec 18, 2005 - 10:08 | Great deep base & base background sounds
I've never noticed this band before, I like and will look for more... |

Ditto, not feeling this at all. |

thewiseking Nov 04, 2005 - 13:09 | i remember when this band broke.

When I first discovered RP and the LRC, it became my mission to make sure RP's listeners were aware that my favorite band had a lot more to offer than "In A Big Country". Well, is it me, but doesn't this song sound a lot like "In A Big Country"? |

When I first discovered RP and the LRC, it became my mission to make sure RP's listeners were aware that my favorite band had a lot more to offer than "In A Big Country". Now, with the addition of "Chance" and "Over The Border", I hope a few people will be encouraged to check out some of Big Country's back catalogue. With eight studio albums, countless live albums, and several collections of rarities to choose from, I think I'll be able to find a few more RP-worthy tracks before I'm done. I had no idea they had that much material out. loking forward to hearing more. |
