The clear vision of the new west That's how it seemed, totally out of context and with no frame of reference, to a kid in the mud and humidity. Had no idea what the west coast was really like, and wouldn't find out until some three decades later as a Santa Barbara resident. Returning, I bypassed the South and went straight for the (sub)Tropics, but still remember the emotion. [ Reply ]
