Foot May 18, 2013 - 19:39 | I was a huge Simple Minds fan, and think the album "New Gold Dream" is one of the best. However anything past that (like this) I thought they were really only coasting. Not a bad pop single but... |
unclehud May 18, 2013 - 19:29 | Is it good? Or do I love it because it's so familiar? Or is there a difference? |

scrubbrush Apr 17, 2013 - 11:59 | I'm generally not one for 80's pop, but this song is absolutely fantastic. |
gypsyman Apr 17, 2013 - 11:58 | A magical song from a magical time. Many, many memories. |
paultron Mar 06, 2013 - 23:09 | how i typically bring this song into casual conversation: me - "you know that one good song by simple minds?" not me - "oh yeah, don't you forget about me?" me - "no, the good song." -fín- |
Jelani Jan 13, 2013 - 08:19 | I think Bryan Ferry's version would have lacked some of the energy that this has. |
michaelgmitchell Jan 13, 2013 - 08:18 | Great throwback, thanks, Bill. This and 'Colours Fly ... Catherine Wheel', my favourites of the 'Minds. |

As many hard-core fans know, the song wasn't even written by the band, but instead by soundtrack composer and Billy Idol producer Keith Forsey. (In fact, Billy Idol and Bryan Ferry both turned down the song before it landed in the lap of Simple Minds.) Billy Idol *did* record a version of that song, but I don't know whether that was before or after Simple Minds made theirs. Either way, Billy's version left a lot to be desired. |
onelittlemoose Apr 04, 2012 - 14:25 | Many thanks. I agree, this somehow seems made for Bryan Ferry, but his loss is Simple Minds' gain. Love it. On a related note, I can't believe it's 35 years, let alone 27 .... Cynaera Nov 29, 2011 - 17:10 | Back in the day, after my refinance when I had a vast expanse of white tile flooring and a balance bar, I used to do my stretches to this song. I think about those days now, and it just HURTS, because I can barely walk now, but I ache for the days when I was limber enough to dance to this song in the dark... (BTW - this is a shortened version of the song.) |
Sloggydog Sep 27, 2011 - 09:41 | I thought this was Icehouse - for those who didn't grow up in the land down under that is not a compliment |
drewd Sep 27, 2011 - 09:40 | Simple Minds and simpler times. Takes me way back..... |
