Spot on. I always have to just stop what I'm doing and take in the moment. (Pardon the split-infinitive.) |
Follow with one of Grace Slick et al's more mellow bits for continuity... Maybe "Come Up the Years"...

Whoa! Out of bounds, that was terrific.
If I am going to like a song just for the quality of the vocals, then it's almost always because it's a woman singing. No matter how good the voice is, though, I have to like the song for me to enjoy it. A good voice cannot make a bad song good. A bad voice can sing a good song. I like this song, and her voice.
What a voice.
Peerlessly exquisite. Haunting, yearning, such beautiful phrasing. If ever a song deserved a score of 11 this is the one.
She doesn't like fickle friends and wants to hang around when clearly the party is over... is she planning on murdering him, because she doesn't sound like she's got the horn?

You need to play Judy Collins' version, I can't say which one I like better. They are both just beautiful vocalists.
wonderful

Just lovely - and it means more now, eh?
Its a shame the scale only goes to a 10. This is probably her most well known song but I never get tired tired of hearing it. Judy Collins did a cover of it also before this version of Sandy's was recorded with FC and though its good it just doesn't hold a candle to Sandy..Sandy did other versions of this song including an earlier version with the Strawbs and its excellent also. Just wish they would play more of her here. I've uploaded many of her less heard songs but they never make it into the library.
I have not heard this for years. What a wonder of a song.
Not being morbid or such-like - but when the day comes, I'm having this played at my funeral. Either this, or 'Meet on the Ledge' - there won't be a dry eye in the house!!
if 4.5 minutes of thoughtful retrospect is just too much angst for you ... well ... you haven't lived long enough — stunningful beautful
