pwredman Aug 26, 2011 - 05:30 | I don't care what or who Cat Stevens is today. Back in the day when albums like Catch Bull at Four and Tea for the Tillerman were being put out. He was the man, a great artist with great music, by talented musicians. This song is one of the best. |

"Salman Rushdie, indeed any writer who abuses the prophet or indeed any prophet under Islamic law, the sentence for that is actually death," {Yusuf Islam aka Cat Stevens} said at the time . Rather a jihadist 'spiritual' path this 'non-jihadist' is on. |

Singing in Latin ... kind of cool ... I took 3 years of Latin in HS - believe me, there is nothing cool about singing in Latin. . . |

He simply chose a spiritual path that happened to be Islam. If you've ever watched an interview with him where he talks about his spiritual views, there is nothing about "jihad" in the sense that some of our more ignorant citizens have interpreted the meaning of "jihad." (In fact, "jihad" was hijacked by Muslim extremists... as SO MANY religions are wont to do, hijacking and perverting certain spiritual principle to their own nefarious ends.) Love this song... I remember sunny afternoons in my dorm room, freshman year of college, playing this album. Nice memories... |
northern_girl Mar 21, 2011 - 14:37 | The last time I heard this song was when I stopped listening to my original vinyl copy - probably in the early 80's. Amazingly, I recognized it almost immediately.... I don't remember particularly loving the song then, but it sounded amazing today - thanks! |
