I can't believe it's really been nine years since this first sent its tentacles out of my first Mac, way back when...

Just so you know - its not a band it is a person working on his own using a variety of instruments and electronics found here and there and put together in a home made studio and without the benefit of a label behind him.

OK, I can understand you not liking it - but you have to give respect for someone who can produce something this good off their own back.

dunno... if this was auto-tuned, why are the notes in the acoustic breakdown at the end so flat?

This song's a mess
You won't admit to it
It makes no sense
But I'm desperate to eject!

Wally sent me this album way back when too. That was neat.
I get a kick from showing the cd cover to people where it says it was "recorded in bedrooms around Melbourne...."

Still the best Gotye song. RP sure knows how to spot a rising star.

Love this song and the video is simply awesome, from a creative artist! It's reminiscent of Sting when he was GOOD.

woah - good spot. It may not be an actual sample (Wally's a drummer, so he probably played it "live") but it certainly sounds similar. Let's call it "homage".
(And good for him, with all the success of his new record. Hard to believe that when I bought this cd from his website, he wrote a note thanking me!)

I bought this album from his site too, and we passed a few emails back and forth. I doubt he is now that open now he has worldwide fame, but I know for certain his heart is in the right place.

I must say, this song is just as aurally "sticky" as his bigger hit and I like the weird beats a lot more. Very nice - I stop and really listen almost unconsciously.

Totally agree - Someone That I Used to Know is excellent, but there's something about this...

I really dig this!
Hé, and the drumsolo near the end reminds me of "Take Five" from Dave Brubeck. Anyone?
