I don't agree with you about the latter bit,but I think I understand what you mean.

I like to listen to music like this when I'm playing the piano.

Because you're a pretentous Brit whilst I have great admiration for your pretensiouly laughable birthright...? {#Whistle} (Just kidding by the way!)

Pleasant enough but limited. If it encourages any one to seek other "classical" music, this composer leaves plenty of room for improvement.

Let me guess... you're fascinated by the corpus of Einaudi's work?

I finally bought the CD. It's in my Sidekick, although I haven't listened to it yet because I have 9 other CDS (two of which are Rachael Yamagata's "Elephants" CDs) by which to be surprised. If all we ever listened to were "the classics," we'd never have broader horizons, better comprehension, more appreciation for what musicians are doing today. The Mig's humble beginning was with the Wright Brothers. Should we only fly a rickety bi-wing plane now?

I see your metaphor and raise you, Cynaera. I would compare "the classics" to a beautiful and ornate cathedral or palace from that era, with beautiful and interesting things to see wherever the eye lands. LE's stuff to my ear sounds like a gray, monolithic, soulless, office building somewhere in the suburbs. Repetitive, featureless, all the life squeezed out of it. Modern? Yes. An advance? Far from it. I'll bet you dollars to donuts that 90% of the musicians on this record loathe the music they are playing.
