Treacly sweet. One play a year would be enough for me.

Hahaha! That's my favorite line in this song — in fact I have a hard time remembering the real title. Always just call it "the truffle dog song".

Lovely tune. Knopler plays and writes from the heart

Mark used to play a strat thru a soldano amp getting such a hair raising sound, you know the one, "Money for nothing", etc. shame he doesnt play like that anymore, its just all Ralph McTell middle of the road stuff nowadays. Nothing good since Local Hero and Neck and Neck.

Lazy line methinks.

You know, watching the Grammy's over the past few years it's occurred to me that actually knowing how to play a musical instrument or even sing well is not necessarily a prerequisite for fame and fortune in the "music" business - alas. On the other hand, at the other end of the talent and skill spectrum is Mark Knopfler.

This is beautiful, and the wine isn't a bad idea either...

Anybody out there thinks that Mark Knopfler has been listening to Greg Brown?

Every time I hear this song, my spirits rise ever so slightly. Time to give this a 6.

I wants me a truffle dog. Met a truffle pig once, but that doesn't really count.

I was just thinking this. It's a really nice song with no angst, just a nice story. I miss the likes of Harry Chapin who could really tell stories. It's nice that there are some artists out there still telling stories.

I love this song. There are a handful of songs by Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits that are absolutely beautiful - and the rest
are just OK. That said, I could listen to the guy play his guitar all day.
