I'm still getting used to them being popular. When I listened to them the most, when Aha Shake Heartbreak came out, nobody in North America seemed to know who they were and looked at me like an idiot when I mentioned them as one of my favs. Their first 2 albums were very good. Some great select songs from the newer ones, but not as good as an album like Aha Shake. Even weirder to me, is that I don't think RP has one song from either of their first two albums... I've tried to add a few, yet have plenty from newer albums. The songs from older albums fit on RP much better than songs from their never albums. I don't get it really. I completely agree. I was listening to their old stuff back before anyone else knew of them and I'm still listening to the first two albums more than any of this new stuff. It sounded much less produced and real. They weren't trying to conform to any particular sound that commercial radio wants to play. They also have some awesome b-sides and alternate versions to their older stuff that's worth listening to. I hear that this new album will be more like Aha Shake and Youth and Young Manhood and I hope that's true. |

Started listening and loving them with Youth and Young Manhood. Everyone thought we were crazy. I won free tickets to see them and BRMC and was so excited. (right before Sex on Fires and after Howl) It was one super concert and plenty of room. Kings were known in Europe but certainly not here in middle America. They are very "real" yet they don't get any credit for their music. |
