a lovely voice......
but the 2,500,000,000 tedious young female singers trying to sound just like her get way way too much play on RP, imo.......

Uh, no. Her "connections" stem directly from her talent, which is huge. She may not be to your taste, but that hardly makes her a "non talent".

Never heard this before, or anything from her new album for that matter. But i could instantly hear this would have to be some of her later work. Her voice really aged over the years, in a good way, but you can clearly hear the difference between the young Emmylou and the Emmylou now...

Ian and Sylvia - Four Strong Winds, Live

Ian Dawson Tyson & Sylvia Fricker Tyson at CBC TV 1986.

In 2005, CBC Radio One listeners chose his song " Four Strong Winds " as the greatest Canadian song of all time on the series 50 Tracks: The Canadian Version . There was strong momentum for him to be nominated the Greatest Canadian, but he fell short. He has been a strong influence on many Canadian artists, including Neil Young , who recorded "Four Strong Winds" for Comes a Time (1978). Johnny Cash would also record the same song for American V: A Hundred Highways (2006). Judy Collins recorded a version of his popular song, " Someday Soon ", in 1968.

"Every singer/song writer has been influenced and inspired by other singer/song writers. It does not detract from their accomplishments. This is a great song." TEB1952

"It's about a settler who travels to Canada to start a new life in the Praries. Leaving his wife back home, he works hard to make a living in the new land so that one day his wife can come along too." Solistiall

Sylvia Fricker , 71 y old, is the President of the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, and Andy Frank of Roots Music Canada ( http://rootsmusic.ca ) caught up with her to talk about the Hall, the 2010 inductees, and the passing of her friend and peer, Kate McGarrigle.

Why is it that Emmylou Harris's voice can bring me to tears or make me smile in complete joy? I'm beyond trying to figure it out. I just know I love hearing her sing, and this song is an instant 8 for me. {#Sunny}

Mr. Soul & Emmylou Harris sing a classic country song.

"Buddy Miller on acoustic guitar. Looks like it might be Dennis Crouch (Fogerty's Band) on stand-up bass." scotthinkster
