like a dog without a bone. This must be one of the lamest fragment lyrics commonly encountered. Maybe others can find better/ worser examples, but although I have always liked the pulsing beat of this song, the lyrics always have induced an inadvertent cringe. Word has it that Jim Morrison was a poet, but evidence is scarce.

The Doors were just such a "woman"

(edit)... Once upon a time...LA was very different than SF... and they viewed the world differently.
And some of us only heard The Doors when friends would record(tape) the midnight FM ad-free broadcasts and mail em out...
The first time I heard the doors, I was laying on smooth parts of a wrecked hood, enjoying the lingering days warmth...and watching the stars rise...
Where were you-?

Hearing the Doors music when it was new was a completely different experience than hearing it today, for the billionth time. Still great, just . . . different . . . sigh.

Classic elemental imagery... we are all born into a storm... (especially if you live in Boston right now... soooo apropos...) love it...

Got an oldie with transparent yellow window in the LP jacket — their images are printed on the cellophane. Seriously, that's why I bought the record; I was too young to actually know about the Doors at the time this came out. Boy, was I taken aback. Owned a bunch more of their records before the end of that summer's job.

Edit: And I don't care if you can't appreciate/get/understand/blah/blah/blah. Your loss.

Severe thunderstorm warning, lights out (on generator), wind blowing like crazy and this comes on.
Cut it out, Bill.

Was never a big Doors fan. So tired of this one.

Pretentious, self indulgent, prodding and endless. Oh I almost forgot...popular. Go figure. At least this song does project a definite atmosphere...then again...it captured that in the first minute...no need for the next seven.

I don't get why these guys were so famous. Any song of theirs I have ever heard is really boring and goes nowhere. This one is a prime example. 7 minutes of noodling around on 3 chords with a dull melody. So what?

June 1971 sitting in my 64 Ford Custom, making out with Gabrielle on a rainy Saturday night. Ahhhhhhhhh the sweet memories. How can I not give this song a 10++

OK RP - Glad you're back on air after Sandy, but this is the 3rd time in as many days I've heard Riders on the Storm and I've just about had enough. Was never a song I really liked, now I'm starting to barf a little in my mouth when I hear it. Love ya! {#Angel}
