If we ignore this, then as far as corruption is concerned, the US has just become a bedroom suburb of Mexico. The same corruption exists, but the lawns are manicured and the roads are paved. Otherwise, there is no real difference. Just one side of the same town.

Sounds like a Hail Mary pass by the defense to me. The Sinaloa Cartel can buy any weapon it wants wholesale, they don't need to pay middlemen to buy them retail and smuggle them thru at least 6 other countries.
Hell, the Sinaloa cartel is building its own submarines. They absolutely do not need an incompetent federal agency's help buying guns. |

No 2nd Amendment hanky panky ?
Obama Contributor, Who Helped Enact Assault-Weapons Ban, Ran ‘Fast and Furious’
Dennis K. Burke, who as a lawyer for the Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee in the 1990s was a key player behind the enactment of the 1994 assault-weapons ban, and who then went on to become Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano’s chief of staff, and a contributor to Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential primary campaign, and then a member of Obama's transition team focusing on border-enforcement issues, ended up in the Obama administration as the U.S. attorney in Arizona responsible for overseeing Operation Fast and Furious. |

Ironically the restrictions are from the public behavior, not any liberal legislation. Clinton actually tried quite a bit, and some pundits claim the gun control efforts in congress in the early '90s cost the Democrats control of both houses. It certainly mobilized the opposition. His appointees (especially to the courts) don't have to run for re-election tho.

We do know where there hearts are, and its not for the 2nd amendment. Gun control is a political liability anymore, so it doesn't happen out in the open, but that doesnt mean they wont try and further their agenda by exploiting a crisis, like blaming the 2nd a on 'Fast and Furious' and how they need to 'clamp down and regulate gun sales'.

Of particular note is that the author constantly cites indifference at the federal level, and heavlily at the DOJ. And we find out, if this article is correct, that the FBI was financing the bulk of these purchases. This all goes directly towards the DOJ.
I loosely agree with the article, that the local ATF operation in charge was set up for failure. Who organized this failure ? Clearly the DOJ had oversight. Clearly the DOJ did not administer it properly. Who runs the DOJ ?
Regardless of anything, the DOJ is in this up to its eyeballs and with Obama calling for executive privilege, it only casts more doubt not light on the subject. And what is taking the DOJ's Inspector General so long to complete his report ? Edit: and those who claim election shenanigans, the House and Senate investigations started well over a year ago. Well before the coming election.
