I even stir some into hot coffee, throw it on cinnamon raisin Ezekiel toast, and just do a tbl spoon right out of the barrel couple-o-times a day.
Ever tried any of this?

Bob Vila sez:
I've used boric acid to murder them - 1% acid, 10% sugar (in water.) I don't know about the chitin inhibitors that are marketed; I don't think they're "safe" for pets or kids, not sure.
I also saw a site, http://www.carpenterants.com/, which might be helpful.

Target: EPA Assistant Administrator Mathy StanislausSponsored by: EarthjusticeThe Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is considering a Bush-era initiative that would allow tens of thousands of incinerators at industrial facilities to burn tires, scrap plastics, spent solvents, used oil and other wastes — allowing polluters to spew far more toxins into communities that are already overburdened with pollution.
If passed, the rule would exempt waste burners from siting regulations for incinerators. This would mean that any new facility — or any one of more than 100,000 existing units — could start burning tires or other toxic wastes in our backyards without going through siting analysis or even informing members of the public about the pollution to which they would be exposed.
Public health and the environment deserve full protection from toxic waste incineration. Tell Mathy Stanislaus, the EPA Assistant Administrator, to close this dangerous and toxic loophole! |
