I have had nightmares all my life. I can only remember about 3 dreams that were sort of pleasant; They're always the same; I am on a stage playing in a band. Somtimes I sing and beautiful music comes out of my mouth. Sometimes I play guitar or piano and, again, heavenly music comes from my instrument. I can't desribe the music except to say that it perfect and joyful.
My usual dreams depict me being lost and an array of horrible things happen to me. I also dream of epic disasters and enormous airliners crashing into cities is a common theme.
I only like to sleep when life becomes worse than the nightmares. My favourite part is the all too brief twilight between waking and falling asleep. As bad as the dreams are, I hate waking up. |

I have that one often....
The worst ones are when I crunch on the teeth as they are loose in my mouth - argh...
I've heard a few theories on that...the fear of old age, and also just plain old anxiety and/or uncertainty...

funny you should mention that - it has occurred to me that I need to pay up - I figure if I can come up with the proper recipe / curing process, I will give wine carrots to people who are in need - which creates a quandary, because the only people who really need them are the people who really shouldn't have them. |

When the doob was finished, K. & I split up and figured we'd meet each other at the front of the store. I started walking along the cold cases in the back of the store, just browsing. I came to the rear-left corner of the large grocery and took a left - there was a dairy case at the corner, milk on the back wall, butter, eggs & such along the left wall. I walked a few feet toward the front of the store and noticed a cold case sitting in the middle of the aisle...
There was a sign above the case that said
"Wine Carrots - $0.69/ea."
I walked over and looked down into a vat of red-purple liquid with dark carrot-shapes floating in it.
My mouth watered, they looked really good! So, I reached in, picked up a dripping carrot, sniffed it (mmmmmm- like a Pinot Noir), and took a bite. Sharp, fruity, not too sweet, but not tart - it was delicious, I am happy to say that I ate the entire thing before I suddenly woke up.
Since having this dream almost 15 years ago, I have, on several occasions, tried to make them. So far, I have not even managed to come close.

Nothing like subliminal suggestion with a menu of freaky dreams to choose from!
Apparently that teeth falling out dream has something to do with fear of aging. When I have that dream, I can actually FEEL it happening...pushing my tongue in the gap, where the tooth is gone. Just the way it felt when we were kids and lost our baby teeth.

I dream in colours too, I hear sounds, music, the only thing missing I think is smell. I also talk it seems in them, scream even and freak out people and sometimes I walk them ...
They are highly vivid specially in times of stress or changes.

Symbols in dreams may mean nothing other than pure creation in our heads of desires unfullfilled. For me personally? More than one of these happy little thoughts have come to me IRL! Sure made me want to stop sleeping for while
FYI: i dream in full color. I hear sounds in my dreams including music, leaves crunching, thunder and man I had a hell of a tornado dream once! I can smell and taste in my dreams (or the allusion of that).
I am curious to know if I am an anomaly Lets hear some of those night time crazies... dreams are surreal, so there will be NO JUDGEMENT here people. thanks for sharing! |

Great topic mem!
I am living proof that not everyone dies if they die in a dream. Especially as a child, I died quite a few different ways in dreams... even the dramatic falling-a-long-way-and-hitting-the-ground variety.
The cool part? There is life after life, and it's not scary. |

I dreamed last night, or closer to this morning I didn't have arms. I have seen a commercial on tv...and a few other references to armless stuff. I can't put it all together now but it was weird. I even woke up a few times but went back to the same dream.
Now why can't I do that with Anna K.? |

I used to have VERY bizarr-o dreams when I used to take SSRI meds (prozac, celexa, then lexapro). Don't have them on Wellbutrin.
Anyone every get the weird sensation where you are half awake but feel like your head is glued to the pillow? You try to scream out for help, but nothing comes out...very scary experience. Then the alarm goes off or the phone rings and jars you right out of it.
