I had a dog who when he was just a few months old figured out how to jump up, turn the door knob with his mouth, and open closed doors.  I was so impressed with how smart he was and thought it was pretty cute for a couple of hours then I spent a couple of weeks training him not to do it.

Early on Stinky also figured out how to turn door knobs, he was a tall cat and could reach most of them easily. He would grab the knob with a paw on each side and then just keep jiggling his paws up and down until he got ot open. Sometimes the knob turned to hard for him to get open but the easy turning ones he got open no problem.
Now, Squeaky has also figured that one out though I've never actually seen him do it. Sometimes when I come back from being out he will be outside when he is supposed to be in. I will then discover the cellar door is open. Once down there he can get out through a hole behind the gas meter the util company was nice enough to make when they upgraded my meter to a electronic one I didn't want. The cellar door opens easily and Stinky was good at the one also. I have sinced stacked Rubbermaid tubs in front of the door until I put a slide-bolt on the door. When Squeaky first saw the tubs in the way he actually yelled at me.

Ha-ha.

Ceili is old. She has to live in a small apartment and rarely gets to step outside. She's alone most of the day to entertain herself and she hardly has any teeth left. I figure if jumping into the closet and seeking comfort by the towels is one of her few happinesses...I will certainly let her have it.

Oh, and the ghost story is done. I'm pretty happy with it.

Damn cat. She knows how to open the bathroom closet to jump up onto the shelf with the towels!
