It probably depends where you live.  I know a few people who work in that field here and it's not the most lucrative or stable gig for them.  I guess if you worked for a major publisher in NYC it could pay well, but then there are thousands of potential candidates you'd be competing with.  A big city like Chicago may have a lot of publishers too - I don't know.  Contract work-from-home from major clients is often like a ghost - many people talk about them but very few have seen them.  It really helps to live where the clients are, in my experience - but I've been out of the game for a while..

Also, if it's legit, the ned result would probably drive more traffic to your site.

A Domain Name registration company in China is registering the names illustrations.cn and illustrations.asia.

They are checking to make sure there is no infringement with my illustrations.com... ie, that I do not have a market in China or Asia.

I don't... and I don't plan to.  Although I actually have worked with a client in China, but I don't feel like I really have a "market" there.

Is there any reason to try to block this or claim infringement?

It makes the domain name less valuable. But I don't think I can block someone in Asia from using the name "illustrations."

Other thoughts?

You'd think a design award page would be more interesting than, say, the average small town classified ads.
