Just trying to figure out what you meant by your post about the woman who had peanuts thrown at her, particularly the "CNN isn't saying" crack.  Beanie assures me you're a smart fellow.  In my ignorance, I can only ask questions of someone as wise as you in an attempt to increase my undersanding of your meaning.

So, you don't think the Republican party in the US suffers from a racism perception problem?

So Beaker has very helpfully resurrected the peanut throwing incident from last week.  I didn't want to discuss it in the Democratic Convention forum because it really belongs here.  Tampa was where it happened.

It seems to have created a perception of latent racism among at least a couple of attendees at the convention.  The victim of their base behavior ascribes it to racism, pointing out that she wasn't holding a camera at the time and believes the perpetrators "didn't know (she was with CNN)".

Even if racism was not the motive, it seems like the Republican convention leadership missed a golden opportunity to clearly disown racism.  The perpetrators were properly ejected, but how more meaningful would it have been if someone like Marco Rubio, or John Boehner, or even Romney, had taken to the microphone for five minutes and used the incident to make a clear statement that "as Republican's, we can't embrace racism.  We must shun it, because it is abhorrent and unAmerican.  It is not what our party, or our nation, is about", or words to that effect.

Actions do speak louder than words, but sometimes plainly spoken words at the right time can carry weight.

I wouldn't go painting Fox as "fair and balanced" just because of this. Even a blind squirrel gets a nut sometimes, Beaker.  {#Dance}

You have a point, but it's a red herring.

The issue is BBK's stereotyping of what he probably considers a typical Democratic voter, someone who "pays no taxes" (per Fox News propaganda) and receiving government assistance to buy "alcohol and cigarettes".  Kind of like Reagan's "welfare queens" in Cadillacs, it's the 21st century dog whistle for talking about "those sorts of people".

Ironically, BBK accuses others of "stereotyping and smearing" Republicans, yet can't recognize it when it comes from his own fingertips.

Will GE pay taxes if mitt is elected?  Wait, let me answer that rhetorical question - no.
But in mitt's case, there's no hypocrisy involved.

And let's not forget who owned NBC and MSNBC until very, very recently, GE / Mr. Immelt.

To say that NBC / MSNBC has been kind to Mr. Obama in their reporting is a very generous understatement.
