Oh, my. I was thinking flooding might have been the culprit, but that just looks like simple structural failure. It's an old bridge, not really up to interstate standards. Regular inspections (?) should have prevented that.

That's on #1 Son's route from the Anacortes ferry to Seattle or Portland. There are a couple of alternate crossings, but they're both two lane and involve local city streets. I-5 traffic will probably clog both of them.

HAHA! Yeah, maybe! My mom was a JOHN BIRCHER if you can believe it! She thought there was a commie under every rock. It rubbed off on my older suister who now thinks theres a commie under every rock including Obama. Weird how that works huh? My physician dad was more moderate GOP and even voted for Obama last election. I took after him. A solid belief in science and common sense. But I have seen how far right the GOP has become and it is getting scary. Even Reagan would not be welcome in today's GOP. THAT is off the charts conservatism also known as Fascism. My sister and I now trade emails every day about politics for the past year. She is probably the most RW Christian person I've ever known. But with my daily pounding her with the facts and guilt of her hatred she is slightly softening I think. It will probably take another 5 years to convert her. lol.
