Nice! hobbitt's employer now imposes a 10% salary penalty on existing or new hires who opt to work from home. Luckily he's been doing it for 15 years or so, and is therefore grandfathered in. From other things, too, like drug testing.

I've never heard of a salary penalty for working from home...yikes! That's dumb considering companies can save money by letting their employees telecommute.

My boss (who also telecommutes) asked my group of 3 a while ago, who are part of the company that got acquired, if we wanted to work from home like the rest of our team who were with the company that acquired us (they're all in different states). I would have said yes but the other two said no because our company's culture was very collaborative and they had always felt they should be in the office the majority of the time except for once in a while when they had a reason to work from home. Well, since we're not that company anymore and our boss had offered it, I decided today that it would be better for my sanity, health, and productivity so I talked to my boss and took him up on his offer.

It will be better for our poor geriatric dog, too, who now messes in the house whenever we're not home even though a neighbor comes over a couple times a day to let her out. Now, at least one of us will be home to let her out when needed almost every day.
